Gary Fowler, Pastor

Gary began as Pastor in Hemet in late 2002, coming from 27 years of ministry in Tacoma, Washington. He earned B.A. and M. Div. degrees, and was ordained in 1975. He is excited and energized to lead the congregation into new kinds of ministry, connecting with the community and all of the people moving new into this Valley. HUNDRED AND ONE YEARS

Yes! A tradition of mission and witness began in the San Jacinto Valley on June 11, 1905 when twenty-seven persons were called to establish a Christian fellowship. For over one hundred years that same call to mission and witness has sustained the family of God known locally as the First Christian Church of Hemet (Disciples of Christ).

Though the human leadership has passed from person to person, over this long time, the divine power of God’s loving Spirit has guided the congregation. Through twenty centuries, trials and changes have tested the faith and the will of God’s people.  The abiding love of God has always focused the church to its purpose.

As you look at this beautiful San Jacinto Valley and the growing numbers of families it is difficult to visualize 27 pioneers launching a church. In 1905 the valley was rural, the streets were dirt and only a few shops and stores were available. But, the mission and the witness of the Christian fellowship was, is and always will be the same, “to proclaim God’s love to all persons.”

Jeanne Miller, Organist/Choir Director

In this new century with e-mail, global positioning systems, jet travel and instant communication the church is still called to proclaim God’s continuing love to all persons.

History is not the past, rather it is the remembering of all who have labored and sustained the family of God known as the First Christian Church of Hemet (Disciples of Christ).

You are invited to join and share in the Mission and Witness in this fellowship of believers.

"Serving since 1905.
